Android 15 Release Date Possibly Revealed
Google is gearing up for the release of Android 15, with code already integrated into the Android Open Source Project (AOSP). While the official launch hasn’t happened yet, there’s a rumored release date for the update: October 15, 2024. This date is provisional and could change, especially if unresolved bugs are discovered before the launch.
Pixel Devices First in Line for Android 15
As in previous years, Google will release Android 15 first for its Pixel devices. All Pixel smartphones from the Pixel 6 and onwards are expected to receive the update over-the-air.
Pixel 9 Launched Without Android 15
Interestingly, Google launched the Pixel 9 series, including Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Fold, before the release of Android 15. This marks the first time the company has released new phones without a major Android software upgrade. The delay was partly due to Google’s desire to launch the Pixel 9 lineup earlier than usual, breaking from its tradition of fall releases.
Android 15 Coming Soon to More Devices
Earlier this month, Google announced new features for the Android operating system and confirmed that Android 15 would be available for Pixel devices in the coming weeks. They also promised that third-party manufacturers like Samsung, Motorola, Nothing, OnePlus, Oppo, Realme, Sony, and Xiaomi would get the Android 15 update in the upcoming months.
